2010 promises to be another active year for our members.  We have many trail rides scheduled (see below), members showing at State Horse Expositions, and our annual 2010 Fun Show with tentative plans for a 2nd Fun Show near the end of summer.  We hope you will join in!

Please keep in mind that there are many opportunities for volunteering at events. You will find a list of some on the 'Contact Us' page; scroll to the bottom.
 
Why volunteer? Because as a member, you are MAPFHA. The Board of Directors are no more and no less regular members in whom fellow MAPFHA members have put their trust. They volunteer their time to help ensure the Paso Fino horse endures and so those of us that know how special they are can enjoy them together. MAPFHA exists only because of people giving their time and the Board depends on you as much as you do on them. If it's been awhile since you've been involved, please think about how you can 'make it happen' this year.  On behalf of all members (& the horses!), a sincere thank you to everyone who has supported MAPFHA, and each other, over the years.

  • 2010 MN Horse Expo
     Event Description

    Sponsored by the Minnesota Horse Council, the MN Horse Expo is a horse-lover's delight and always delivers something for everyone.  Their website records attendance of nearly 50,000. There are TONS of vendors to satisfy every shopaholic of horse items, demonstrations by top clinicians, and more than 50 breeds represented.  But most important to us, MAPFHA members will be exhibiting our beloved Paso Finos in the Parade of Breeds.  Please come and cheer them on and then stop in to visit them in the barn.  They will love to see you there!

  • MAPFHA 2010 Fun Show 
    Event Description

    The MAPFHA Fun Show is a family event for both participants and spectators.  The show is dedicated as a fun learning event for riders and horses alike.  Informal competition is the name of the game.  Twenty four classes will be held that include the Largo race, Corto race, Slow race, Egg race, and the new Figure 8 and Jumping class.  Participation for riders is open to all MAPFHA members regardless of breed. You must have a current negative Coggins report to event your horse.

    A big thank you to those who volunteered in 2010 as a sponsor, donator and/or participate of the raffles and auctions, and the many other tasks that needed doing. Let's not forget to applaud our riders and their wonderful horses who are the reason for the Fun Show.  Because of all of you, year after year, your Fun Show is a success!

  • 2010 Crow Hassan Trail Ride
    Event Description

    Although not the first trail ride of the year, the ride scheduled for the weekend of May 7th - 9th at Crow Hassan Park Reserve near Rogers, MN is the MAPFHA sponsored trail ride that officially kicks off the 2010 riding season.  MAPFHA is reserving the Bluestem Group Camp and covering the rental cost.  Members are responsible for any individual fees such as park entrance and trail pass fees.  Everyone is invited to attend whether you come for the Saturday Social or come to camp for the weekend, with or without your horse.  The group area is very nice and this group camp site includes a building for warm shelter where we can gather.  The trails are wonderful and the park is very picturesque.

    This is a great time for members to reconnect after the long winter of our northern region.  Don't miss this event!

2010 Trail Ride Schedule

To sponsor any of the rides below, to add a ride to the schedule, or for other trail ride information, please email Sharon Gallagher.  Sponsorship is easy.  Just be the contact person for the ride and help participants organize - with a pot-luck meal if that is desired.

We are also seeking to expand MAPFHA trail ride events into all States of our region.  If you are planning a day or weekend ride with your friends and family, please consider making it a group event by letting us know that we can put it on our trail ride schedule.  It's Ok if it's at the same time as an already scheduled ride.  Thank you!
